Team Lost Coast 2008: Meet the New Team Members!

We are extremely excited to announce the addition of 3 new riders to Team Lost Coast Brewery for 2008. Maureen Kunz, Brian Astell, and Amon Pease. All three will be racing at the professional level and are very talented athletes as well as wonderful, kind people. Introducing Maureen:

Maureen Kunz, DOB: 04/28/1980

I’ve always been an athlete, starting with t-ball and soccer at age 5. My athletic pursuits include competitive swimming, running marathons, triathlons, rock climbing, adventure racing and now mountain biking. Between 1999 and 2003 I was a professional rock climber, competing nationally and traveling throughout the US. I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Berkeley, California in 2005. I started racing mountain bikes in 2004 in the Beginner category, and I’ve quickly progressed through the ranks, culminating in 3 Expert National Championship Titles at the 2007 NORBA National Championships in Mt. Snow, VT. I plan to join the Professional ranks for 2008, and I am excited about the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s finest athletes. Outside of mountain biking, I am a devoted environmentalist; I am in my 3rd year of the PhD program in Environmental Engineering at UC-Berkeley, conducting research in native habitat restoration in the San FranciscoBay.
