Here are some more pictures and action shots from the Cool MTB Race!
Huge thanks to photographer John Mackey for sharing these images with the team. John has been at the Cool race every year that I’ve been and is always full of smiles and enthusiastic cheers. Check him out online at http://www.johnmackeyphoto.com/ for more great pics from the race and other events. Thanks again to John!
On March 9, 2008 Team LCB headed to the Sierra foothills for the annual Cool Mountain Bike Race. We were treated to beautiful blue skies and impressive views of snow-capped mountains.
The women did 2 laps and the men did 3 laps of the 10 mile course. The rolling course was in great shape this year and featured several stream crossings and a few mud pits.
In the Pro/Expert Women’s race, Maureen rode her way into 3rd place near the end of the first lap and held her position, good for a spot on the podium behind Luna rider Katerina Nash and fellow NorCal racer Jamie Stamps. Emma dropped 15 minutes (!) off her time from last year to finish 7th, just behind fellow Collegiate racer Corina Bingham.
In the Pro/Expert Men’s race, Brian treated the crowd to an exciting finish by jumping over the final mud pit (no ramp this year!) and passing into 3rd place at the same time!! Amon overcame a busted rear derailleur cage before the race with duct tape and rode strong to finish 11th. Tsering rocked a demo Indian Fire Trail into lucky 13th place.
The raffle was chock-full of goodies, and a few of us won some great stuff. After the event, we refueled at Auburn Alehouse and headed home feeling psyched about our first race!
We want to give special thanks to Karen and Dakota Kunz for working the feed zone and cheering section and to John Mackey for taking beautiful photos of our team! Look for us in full-force at NMBS #1 in Fontana, CA.
